ABS valve for ball inflation

The Tecline plastic inflation valve is the standard component for inflation and air sealing found on most Signal Marker Buoys (SMBs) and recreational DSMBs. It is designed to be lightweight, functional, and resistant to galvanic corrosion.

Technical and Construction Features

• Material: Made of high-strength thermoplastic polymer. The use of technical plastic makes it completely immune to salt corrosion and prevents blockages due to lime or salt deposits, which are typical of unmaintained metal components.
• Lightweight Design: Thanks to the plastic material, it reduces the overall weight of the DSMB, an ideal factor for travelers who need to keep their technical luggage weight down.
• Operating Mechanism:
• Oral Inflation: Features a shaped mouthpiece that allows the diver to inflate the buoy by mouth with minimal effort.
• LP (Low Pressure) Quick Connect: The valve has a standard profile compatible with quick connectors on low-pressure hoses (those for the BCD or drysuit). This allows for assisted and fast inflation on the surface or during ascent.
• Non-Return Valve: Inside, there is a spring mechanism that automatically seals the opening as soon as pressure is released (both oral and from the hose), ensuring the DSMB remains pressurized.

Functionality and Safety

• Intuitive Operation: To inflate by mouth, simply press lightly with your lips or teeth (depending on the specific design of the internal disc) or simply blow firmly to overcome the spring's resistance.
• Replaceability: It is designed to be easily installed on the DSMB's inflation tube using a hose clamp or by pressure/thermal bonding, making DSMB maintenance simple and economical.
• Safety in Diving: The external profile is designed to prevent accidental snagging on lines or nets (anti-snagging).

Comparison with the Metal Version

While the metal valve is preferred by technical divers for its extreme robustness, the plastic valve is the preferred choice for:

• Recreational divers seeking a reliable and lightweight component.
• Use in warm or temperate waters where there is no risk of polymer freezing.
• Those who prefer a component that does not require constant lubrication to prevent chrome oxidation.
