The serrated washer is a mechanical locking element designed to be inserted between the screw head (or nut) and the backplate surface. Its main function is to prevent accidental loosening of components due to vibrations, impacts, or thermal shocks.
Key Features:
- Material: Made of AISI 316 Stainless Steel (Marine Grade). This material is essential to ensure that the washer maintains its mechanical properties and structural integrity even after hundreds of dives in saltwater, preventing the formation of rust that could weld the components together.
- Serrated/Toothed Surface: Features a series of small ridges (serrations) or radial teeth on both faces. When the bolt is tightened, these ridges "bite" into the metal surface of the plate and the screw, creating superior mechanical friction compared to a plain washer.
- Anti-Loosening Function: It is the ideal solution for locking the bolts of the double tank band or the single tank adapter (STA), where loosening during diving or transport could compromise the stability of the entire configuration.
- Slim Profile: Despite its high holding power, it maintains a minimal footprint, allowing for a clean and hydrodynamic assembly.
Common Applications:
- Backplate-Wing Assembly: Inserted into the double tank mounting bolts to ensure that the nuts remain in place.
- Accessory Attachment: Used in mounting battery brackets for dive lights or other heavy accessories on the backplate.
- DIR Standard: An essential component for those who require maximum mechanical reliability and follow rigorous maintenance protocols.
