The Bolt Pair represents the standard and indispensable fastening system for assembling the backplate-wing (BCD) technical configuration on twin cylinders or on a single cylinder adapter (STA).
Technical and Construction Characteristics:
-
Material: Made entirely of marine-grade stainless steel (SS). The choice of stainless steel guarantees very high resistance to salt corrosion and prevents mechanical deterioration over time, even after years of use in the sea.
-
Kit Components: The set consists of two complete bolts, each typically including:
-
Flat/domed head screw: Designed to reduce bulk and not interfere with the BCD wing or the diver's wetsuit.
-
Wing nut: Allows for quick and secure manual tightening without the need for tools.
-
Flat washers: Essential for uniformly distributing tightening pressure on the backplate slots, protecting materials from scratches or deformation.
-
Standard Thread: They use M8 pitch, the universal standard compatible with almost all backplates (steel or aluminum) and adapters on the market.
Advantages in Underwater Use:
-
Maximum Solidity: Unlike plastic strap or clip systems, steel bolts offer a rigid and indestructible mechanical anchor, essential for managing the weight and inertia of heavy cylinders.
-
Ease of Assembly: The design of the wing nuts allows for assembling or disassembling the equipment on the dock or on the boat in a few seconds, an easy operation even when wearing gloves or with cold hands.
-
Safety (DIR Standard): This configuration complies with the dictates of technical diving, prioritizing simplicity, extreme robustness, and ease of visual inspection.
-
Modularity: The length of the bolts is optimized to pass through the combined thickness of the backplate, wing, and mounting plate, ensuring a secure thread grip.
