Descrizione

The Bungee Mount for Suunto SK-7 compass is a technical mount designed to replace the classic rubber or plastic strap. It is a standard solution in the world of technical diving (DIR/Tech) to improve the ergonomics and safety of the instrument.

This rigid mount is specifically designed to house the Suunto SK-7 compass module (one of the most popular models among divers). The "bungee" system (elastic cords) replaces the traditional strap, offering a self-adjusting fit that compensates for wetsuit compression during descent.

Technical and Construction Features

  • Compatibility: Designed exclusively for the Suunto SK-7 module. The seat is shaped to perfectly fit the compass, keeping it in the correct position and preventing accidental rotation.
  • Mount Material: Made of robust technopolymer, resistant to impact, scratches, and corrosion in a saline environment.
  • Fastening System (Bungee):
  • Uses standard thickness elastic cords (bungee) (usually 3-4 mm).
  • The mount has dedicated side holes for the elastic cord to pass through.
  • Allows for an independent double-loop configuration: if one elastic cord breaks, the second would still keep the instrument anchored to the arm.
  • Hydrodynamic Profile: The design is intended to keep the instrument as close as possible to the wrist, reducing bulk and the risk of snagging compared to standard straps.

Advantages Over Standard Strap

  • Depth Compensation: Unlike fixed straps, the elastic cords automatically tighten when the wetsuit (wet or drysuit) compresses due to pressure, preventing the compass from slipping or rotating on the arm.
  • Ease of Donning: Can be easily worn even with thick dry gloves, simply by slipping your hand through the elastic loops.
  • Durability: The elastic cords are easily replaceable in case of wear, unlike original straps which, once buckles or pins break, require replacement of the entire piece.
  • Versatility of Positioning: Allows the compass to be secured on the back of the hand, on the wrist, or on the forearm, depending on the diver's preference.

Installation

Installation requires removing the SK-7 module from its original housing (boot) and inserting it into the Tecline mount. The elastic cords are then passed through the holes and knotted to the desired length based on the diver's arm circumference with the suit worn.
